Course Description

This course will take an in-depth look at the science behind surgical masks, how masks are made and how to wear a mask correctly for optimal protection.


Upon completion of this course, the dental professional will be able to:

  • Explain when to wear a mask and what masks protect against.
  • Identify the differences between a surgical mask and an N95 respirator.
  • Describe ASTM standards and how masks are tested to ensure compliance.
  • Select the correct level of mask for various tasks.
  • Explain how to correctly wear a face mask.

Marti Bourland

Marti has been the Southern US Territory Manager for Medicom since 2020. With over 20 years of experience in the dental industry, she has become an Infection Control expert and CE lecturer.
